English: The Arabian Gulf (Jun. 25, 2003) -- A plane director prepares to assist an F/A-18A Hornet from the “Warhawks” of Strike Fighter Squadron 97 (VFA-97) to one of four steam driven catapults during flight operations on the flight deck aboard USS Nimitz (CVN-68). Nimitz Carrier Strike Group and Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVN-11) are deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Operation Iraqi Freedom is the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.
