Description
English: Arabian Gulf (Dec 31, 2003) -- Aviation Boatswain's Mates signal to the Launch Officer that the aircraft is ready to be launched from the flight deck aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65). The Aviation Boatswain Mate operate, maintain and repair aircraft catapults, arresting gear and barricades. They operate and maintain fuel and lube oil transfer systems. ABs direct aircraft on the flight deck and in hanger bays before launch and after recovery, and they use tow tractors to position planes and operate support equipment used to start aircraft. The Enterprise Carrier Strike Group (CSG) is currently deployed conducting missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the continued war on terrorism.
