English: Atlantic Ocean (July 1, 2004) – The guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64) turns hard to starboard after completing a replenishment at sea with the fast combat support ship USS Detroit (AOE 4). Gettysburg is forward deployed, as part of the USS Enterprise (CV 65) Carrier Strike Group (CSG). The Enterprise CSG is one of seven participating in Summer Pulse 2004. Summer Pulse 2004 is the simultaneous deployment of seven aircraft strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy’s first deployment under its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP). Gettysburg is currently underway in support of Summer Pulse 04. Summer Pulse 04 is the simultaneous deployment of seven aircraft carrier strike groups (CSG's), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat power across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy's first deployment under its new Fleet Readiness Plan (FRP). The strike group will conduct a scheduled training exercise followed by overseas pulse operations.
