English: Persian Gulf (Sept. 21, 2004) - All hands participate in a Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk down on the flight deck aboard the conventionally powered aircraft carrier US John F. Kennedy (CV 67). This task is performed each day and night before flight operations to ensure the flight deck is clear of all foreign objects, which could be ingested by jet aircraft, damaging expensive equipment or place flight deck personnel in danger. Kennedy and embarked Carrier Air Wing Seventeen (CVW-17) are currently on deployment in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Units in the Kennedy Carrier Strike Group are working closely with Multi-National Corps-Iraq and Iraqi forces to bring stability to the sovereign government of Iraq.
