Description
English: Norfolk, Va. (Dec. 14, 2004) – An E-2C+ Hawkeye, assigned to the “Bear Aces” of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 124 (VAW-124), sits on the flight line on board Naval Station Norfolk, Va. The E-2C+ Hawkeye is modified with the eight-bladed NP2000 propeller. The new propeller, made by Hamilton-Sundstrand, increases performance and safety along with better maintenance techniques. Other improvements to the airframe include the Group II Mission Computer Replacement Program, which speeds up the Hawkeye’s computers eight times faster than the older models. The final modification to the E-2C+ Hawkeye is a new flat panel display for the Naval Flight Officer’s mission scopes. The new display has a crisper picture, increased contrast and brightness, increased maintenance reliability and is 44 pounds lighter per scope. U.S. Navy Photo (RELEASED)
