DescriptionUS Navy 050324-N-8154G-153 Air Department personnel perform a Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk down.jpg |
English: Atlantic Ocean (Mar. 24, 2005) - Air Department personnel perform a Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk down prior to flight operations aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5). This task is performed each day and night before flight operations to ensure the flight deck is clear of all foreign objects, which could be ingested by jet aircraft, damaging expensive equipment or place flight deck personnel in danger.
