Description
English: Najaf, Iraq (Apr. 5, 2005) - Photographer's Mate 2nd Class Shawn D. Gentile, assigned to Fleet Combat Camera Group Pacific, conducts an interview with U.S. Army 1st Lt Rodney Edwards after he coordinated a routine Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) drill near Forward Operating Base (FOB) Hotel for the 2nd Battalion/198th Armor's Quick Response Force (QRF). These drills are conducted to maintain the unit’s proficiency in responding to suspect vehicles that may be used against coalition forces and are held just outside of the base. After the exercise, Edwards and his squad helped establish the relationship with local Iraqi families by making a stop in a nearby neighborhood to hand out treats and personal hygiene items. Personnel attached to the 2nd/198th Armor are part of the 155th Brigade Combat Team, forward deployed to central Iraq in support of Operation Iraq Freedom (OIF).
