English: Pacific Ocean (Aug. 26, 2005) - An on-scene leader uses a Naval Firefighter Thermal Imaging Device (NFTI) to search for fires during a main space fire drill aboard the conventionally-powered aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Main space fire drills assist Sailors in maintaining standards of readiness, streamlining procedures and instill habits of excellence during times of emergency. Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
