English: Oak Ridge, Tenn. (June 1, 2006) - John Jansen from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) demonstrates the Office of Naval Research (ONR) sponsored Compact Agile Material Mover (CAMM) to Navy leaders from the CVN-21 Aircraft Carriers, Naval Air Forces and other Naval Sea Systems Commands. The CAMM along with Human Amplification Technology (HAT) effort enables one person to move very heavy cargo items, up to 10,000 pounds, with nearly pinpoint accuracy. The key technology is the Off-Center In-Line Omni-directional Wheel (OCILOW) and its associated electrically powered drive train, capable of moving heavy payloads in confined spaces, on uneven surfaces, and in varying shipboard sea-induced motions.
