Description
English: San Fernando, Philippines (Aug. 8, 2006) - U.S. Navy Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One (NMCB-1) and Seabees of the Philippine Navy alike stand fast as Filipino students from Mabanengbeng Elementary school recite their pledge of allegiance at the start of the school day in San Fernando, Philippines. NMCB-1 deployed 23 Seabees to the Philippines to participate in exercise CARAT 2006, and to work and train with the Philippine Seabees. The Seabees while deployed to the Philippines will construct two classrooms for the Mabanengbeng Elementary School. CARAT is an annual series of bilateral maritime training exercises between the United States and six Southeast Asia nations designed to build relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
