English: WASHINGTON (Sept. 19, 2007) – Three Sailors show off the prototype uniforms for service dress white and service dress khaki. The prototype service dress khaki uniform is a throwback to the traditional WWII style. The uniform allows for chiefs and officers to shift from service khaki to service dress khaki by adding a black tie and jacket. The prototype service dress white uniform focuses on better fabric and fit of the uniform without drastically changing the look. The most visible change of the uniform is adding blue piping along the cuffs and the collar. The fabric is polyester, which allows for improved ventilation and can be washed with no dry-cleaning necessary. U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Brien Aho (RELEASED) |

Image title | 070919-N-5319A-005 Naval Station Anacostia Annex (19 September 2007)-Dress Kaki prototype is a throwback to the traditional WWII style it includes kaki jacket with shoulder boards for officers and four "patch pocket" look and a sewn-in belt as an accent. The kaki shirt is worn under the jacket. Both enlisted and officer will wear their rank insignia on the collars of the kaki shirt with a black tie when dressing up. Key point is flexibility. You can now wear your kaki working uniform without the jacket, then throw on a jacket and you're in a dress uniform. The jacket has the ribbons and insignia on it, so there is no need to shift them from the shirt to the jacket. Dress White prototype focuses on better fabric and fit rather than changing the look will not eliminate the dress whites. Whites most visible change is adding blue piping. The fabric is polyester that allows for improved ventilation and are washable with no dry-cleaning necessary. U.S. Navy Photo by MC1(AW) Brien Aho |
