English: NORFOLK (May 14, 2009) Surface Line Week competitors race towards the finish line during the swim portion of a search and rescue (SAR) competition. This contest includes a 500-meter solo swim and a towing a simulated survivor 400 meters. The competitors also completed contests in situps, pushups, chinups and survival procedures. Surface Line Week is a weeklong series of competitive events for Hampton Roads-area surface Sailors to compete in professional and athletic events. It is an opportunity to promote greater coordination and communication among surface warriors, to build esprit de corps and camaraderie, and to recognize professional excellence across the force.
