Description
English: Park ranger Gary Basile (center), with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, guides students along the Calaveras River near the New Hogan Dam, Valley Springs, Calif., Oct. 22, 2011. The students, from Stagg and Bear Creek high schools of Stockton, Calif., experienced real life learning through activities including water sampling, aquatic life samples, an underwater video camera and fish habitats as part of the Calaveras River Education and Appreciation Day. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District helped host the event, in partnership with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s “Connecting People with Nature” program.(U.S. Army Photo/ Michael J.
