Description
Deutsch: Am südlichen Stadtrand von Bad Tölz ist der Katzenbuckel als Naturdenkmal ausgewiesen (siehe Liste der Naturdenkmäler im Landkreis Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen und Liste der Geotope im Landkreis Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen). Es handelt sich dabei um einen kleinen Umlaufberg, der von einem einstmals hier vorbeifließenden Fluss (Vorläufer der Großen Gaißach?) geformt bzw. „freigespült“ wurde. Nördlich und östlich des Hügels ist der Prallhang der Fluss-Schleife gut zu sehen.
Weil der Katzenbuckel nicht bebaut und nicht bewaldet ist und weil die Anhöhe des nördlichen Prallhangs (Straße Im Scharwinkel) einen guten Aussichtspunkt bietet, lässt sich hier Erdgeschichte gewissermaßen im Miniaturmodell nachvollziehen. (Mit einer Drohne aufgenommene Luftbilder könnten das wahrscheinlich noch besser zeigen als meine Fotos.) – Ein größerer Umlaufberg ist beispielsweise der Stadtberg von Schongau, wo die an drei Seiten steil abfallenden Hänge zum fortifikatorischen Schutz der oben auf dem Plateau errichteten Altstadt genutzt wurden.
