Summary

[edit]
Description

One of the fourteen two-class domestic 767-300s in the United fleet. [Correction: all United 767-300s, even these domestic two-class examples, are ERs.]

I have a very special memory associated with that particular plane. On May Day 2008, I left a business trip in Indianapolis a day early under extremely stressful circumstances and very upset. After the initial flight on an A320 to Denver, N664UA brought me into Los Angeles. As the Grand Canyon unfolded under me around sunset, and my iPod played the United theme music "Rhapsody in Blue," I was glad to be on a United plane going home rather than wherever the hellhole I used to be.

May Day 2008, for me, was a repeat of my December 1999 departure from Amsterdam, a place I hated just as much as Indianapolis. The December 1999 experience is the key reason why United is my favorite airline, and May Day 2008 further cemented that.
