English: United States President Barack Obama shoots clay targets on the range at Camp David, Maryland on Saturday, 4 August 2012. The side jet of smoke is from holes in the ported gun barrels.

Following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on 14 December 2012, Obama argued for tighter gun controls in the United States. In an interview in the New Republic on 27 January 2013, Obama was asked "Have you ever fired a gun?" and he replied, "Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time."

Following the interview, the White House released this picture on Flickr on 1 February 2013 at 6.25 PM PST, and the following day the White House Press Secretary released it on his Twitter account.
