Summary[edit]
DescriptionVancouver Brill trolleybus 2307 wearing 1977 BC Hydro livery at Marpole Loop in 1981.jpg | Vancouver, BC, in 1981: Two CCF-Brill trolleybuses laying over at Marpole Loop, located on Marine Drive underneath the viaducts running to and from the Arthur Laing Bridge. Nearest is No. 2307, a 1951 Brill T48A, which was wearing the BC Hydro Transit paint scheme adopted in 1977, of light grey with orange and brown stripes, and was in service on route 17-Oak. Its rollsign was showing "4 Oak" (and "Fourth" on the side sign) because at that time route 17-Oak was through-routed in downtown with route 4-Fourth, and the driver had already changed the number from 17 to 4 because of a longstanding (but since discontinued) Vancouver practice of displaying the route number (and sometimes also the route name) of the last portion of a given trip for the entire trip. The trolleybus in the background was on route 20-Granville (which has since been renumbered), which also terminated at this location. (Route 17 ceased to terminate at, or even serve, Marpole Loop in September 2009, when it was diverted to the then-new Marine Drive SkyTrain station.) |
