Description
English: Veduta of Novi Sad (1774). The oldest known visual representation of the city of Novi Sad.
Srpski (latinica): Najstarija poznata likovna predstava grada Novog Sada nalazi se na cehovskom pismu stolara i licidera iz 1774. godine. Autor tog bakroreznog lista bio je čuveni bakrorezac, slikar, pisac i kaligraf Zaharije Orfelin. Jedina dva poznata primerka ove grafike čuvaju se u Nacionalnom muzeju u Budimpešti i u Muzeju Vojvodine.

Cehovsko pismo sa vedutom izdato je liciderskom kalfi Jefti Vojnoviću u Novom Sadu 20. novembra 1778. godine. Tekst na nemačkom jeziku kaligrafski je ispisan goticom. Pismo je ukrašeno barokno-rokajnim okvirom. U sredini gornje stranice okvira se nalazi državni grb Austrije, levo je grb Ugarske, a desno grb slobodne kraljevske varoši Novog Sada. Na bočnim stranama predstavljeni su simbolični atributi stolarskog i liciderskog zanata. U zaglavlju pisma je veduta Novog Sada, viđenog sa južne strane, iz petrovaradinskog podgrađa. Na njoj se, pored sedam gradskih crkava, prepoznaje i nekadašnja zgrada episkopske rezidencije, Petrovaradinska tvrđava i kula sa satom, kao i deo mostobrana.

Veduta grada izvedena je sa topografskom preciznošću i u približno tačnim razmerama, zbog čega ima prvorazrednu kulturno-istorijsku važnost urbano-arhitektonskog dokumenta. Orfelinova veduta Novog Sada služila je kao prototip za neke kasnije izvedene prikaze grada.

This applies to works already in the public domain on or before December 29, 2004 when a new copyright act became valid.

a) a work of known authorship and the author died before January 1, 1954
b) an anonymous work and it was published before January 1, 1954
c) a photograph or a work of applied art published before January 1, 1973
