English: Korchnoi Korchnoi, the living legend, the main attraction of Mexico's 2006 Chess Festival (alongside with GM Alexandra Kosteniuk, GM Sergei Karjakin and GM Gilberto Hernandez) waiting for a match to start. It was a most wonderful Chess Festival in Mexico today. In the quadrangular tournament GM Viktor Kortchnoi tied for silver with GM Alexandra Kosterniuk behind the winner Sergei Karjakin. Apart from that the city of Mexico beat the Guinness World Record of maximum number of games played in simuls on one day (14,065), and Anatoly Karpov also beat the Guinness World Record with the maximum number of autographed books (1,951) |
