Summary[edit]

Description
English: Villiaumite
Locality: Aris Quarries (Ariskop Quarry; Railway Quarry), Aris, Windhoek District, Khomas Region, Namibia
FOV 2.8 x 2.0 mm
Thanks to Vic Cloete (2008).MOB coll. Viliaumite at Aris has many colors from deep red to pink to orange - sometimes within the same cavity or even the same mass. The interest here however, is the very complex set of faces, many apparently in parallel. They don't look like cleavages or as if they were formed by solution - they seem to have just formed that way. But villiaumite is a tricky beast so I'm not going to claim anything more than that they are very interesting. (Note: The top surface - the one receding into the background - is, in fact, a cleavage.) However, the arrangement is so complex that it's very hard to tell what's going on from a flat (mono) photo.
