Français : Détail d'une gravure représentant des plongeurs marchant sur le fond marin explorant le Paysage sous-marin de l’Ile Crespo (« L’Ile Crespo » appartient au Capitaine Nemo. Jules Verne la situe par 32°40’ de latitude nord et 167°50’ de longitude ouest. C'est un îlot qui fut reconnu en 1801 par le capitaine Crespo, et que les anciennes cartes espagnoles nommaient Rocca de la Plata, c’est-à-dire « Roche d’Argent », (Jules Verne, 1871). Cette gravure est tirée du roman de Jules Verne Vingt Mille Lieues sous les mers (édition illustrée, 16 novembre 1871, après parution en feuilleton dans la revue Le Magasin d'éducation et de récréation, du 20 mars 1869 au 20 juin 1870. Les scaphandres autonomes, tels qu'alors imaginés par Jules Verne et son illustrateur, d'après l'inventions du docteur Théodore Guillaumet (1838) donnent accès à un nouveau type de paysage, sous-marin, que le cinéma et la télévision, ou la photographie sous-marine nous feront ensuite partager
