Description
English: Photo taken at the Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Norwegian: Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway's largest exhibition of uniforms and smaller items related to the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway 1940 – 1945:
  • Uniform of the army of Nazi Germany (Wehrmacht Heer), belonged to Hubert Lanz (1896 –1982), General der Gebirgstruppe
    • Single-breasted field tunic with four, pleated patch-pockets, falldown-collar and turned-back cuffs
      • Rank insignia of General on gorget patches/collar tabs (Arabesk-Kragenspiegel, generals' "arabesques") and shoulder boards (Schulterstücke)
      • National emblem (Hoheitszeichen or 'Wehrmachtsadler, "armed foces eagle") as a Nazi eagle cloth patch over right chest pocket (Brustadler, "breast eagle")
      • Military decorations, etc.:
        • The tunic is incorrectly decorated, probably by an ignorant collector. The ribbon bar for example has the ribbon for a WWII Iron Cross Second Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse) and there is a WWII Iron Cross First Class present. However above these a repeat Clasp (1st Class) (Spange) to the Iron Cross was placed, meaning that the recipient had already obtained an Iron Cross 2nd and 1st class in the First World War.
