Description |
500px provided description: PRT CHAGHCHARAN, Afghanistan - An Afghan woman watches as Lithuanian 1st Lt. Darius Diburys, a Lithuanian infantry officer with Provincial Reconstruction Team Chaghcharan, walks children down the street in Badgha village, Afghanistan Jan. 9. He was leading the children to the nearby school house where, for two hours, he gave them instruction on mine awareness. According to The HALO Trust, a non-political, non-religious and non-governmental organization, there are up to 640,000 mines lines laid in Afghanistan since 1979. The PRT hopes the training will help save Afghan lives and will strengthen their relationships with local villages. (ISAF Joint Command photo by U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt.
