Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Built in 1888, this five-story Romanesque Revival-style building was designed by Cyrus L. W. Eidlitz for Jewett M. Richmond to serve as a Belt and Hose Factory, and later was renamed after a man whom owned it during the 20th Century. The building features a red brick exterior, stepped front parapet, low-slope roof, two-over-two double-hung windows, first floor storefronts with cast iron columns and pilasters, stone trim, four large bays on the second, third, and fourth floors of the front facade, with recessed decorative spandrel panels, cast iron pilasters between the three windows in each bay, and arched windows on the fourth floor with a band of decorative trim above, a cantilevered fifth floor with twelve bays, arched attic windows on the parapet above the six central bays of the fifth floor, stone quoins and a stone cap on the parapet, and arched window openings on the rear facade. The building has been adaptively reused as residential lofts on the upper floors, with retail spaces on the ground floor.
