  • Off-white laid paper.
  • On front in ink: Send revise to Hotel du Bon Lafontaine, Rue de Grenelle 16. All on one line [circled, with faint line to title which is enclosed in square ink brackets] bring down a little [circled, with line to first lines of text], all on one line [circled with line to repeated title], a little closer [with lines indicating the blocks on text above and below the repeated title].
  • On front in red pencil: Proof 17/1 of 92 please correct + return [indication of Whistler's signature butterfly below title].
  • On back: blue stamp of L.C. Division of Prints (Lugt 677).
