X-ray of polydactyl feet (Reeve 48693), National Museum of Health and Medicine Description: X-ray of feet, showing postaxial polydactyly. Photograph taken by Dr. Penhallow. Polydactylism is the congenital abnormality of having extraneous fingers or toes. As visible above, this individual had six toes on both feet. This is an example of postaxial polydactyly, because the extra digit occurs on the pinky side of the foot.
