Shapefile[edit]

Salvete! I would like to know from where you got the shapes for this map. I want to make a detailed map of the 1918 (or earlier) election/s but that requires finding constituencies for Ireland. I've been able to find those for Northern Ireland. If you can point me in the right direction, I would be more gracious. Your humble servant, Talleyrand6 (talk) 17:58, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Talleyrand! Sorry for the delay coming back I totally missed your message. I've seen quite a few of your maps, I really liked the style you've used on them. Re the shapefile - all the Irish boundaries are ultimately based on Townlands, so once you get those, you can effectively piece together the constituencies themselves using the various acts of parliament. I've done a 'Victorian' style one too for the 1885-1918 boundaries too - https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1885_United_Kingdom_general_election_(Ireland)_map_-_winning_party_vote_share_by_constituency.svg. Did you have to do something similar for the Northern Irish maps? Thanks MrPenguin21 (talk) 20:11, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Colours[edit]

The colours do not really work here as too many constituencies had an overwhelmingly dominant party (sometimes unopposed): very dark grey-green and very dark blue look too similar when they should be showing the most distinct results. 2A00:23C6:148A:9B01:4ED:81C6:3E30:470E 22:30, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It's a fair point - the colours do blend a bit with some of the shades of blue and green. I'll have a bit of an experiment to see if any other schemes work well, but it's tricky as I've tried to keep it in line with the general wiki-wide Sinn Fein & Unionist colours.
