US Bases wrong

[編輯]

The map does not include Nato Bases in the Baltic States, the Czech Republic or Poland. It also does not include other US military involvements for example in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Grenada, Guantanimo in Cuba or elsewhere. Highly misleading and needing updating 201.17.151.43 18:37, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[回覆]

NATO bases in the baltic states are just that, NATO bases, where troops from different countries rotate out of, including US troops, that doesn't make them US bases. There are no US bases in Syria, Yemen, or Grenada, the Czech republic rejected US bases and there are none there. The map needs updating, but not with made up locations. -

One example for a US military base in Syria is "Al Tanf", the English Wikipedia article gives plenty of sources for this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Waleed_border_crossing Similar with Yemen (but I currently don't have the citations at hand). — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 95.91.130.156 (talk) 20:48, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[回覆]

Map needs to be updated post withdrawal. Midgetman433 (對話) 18:34, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[回覆]

It would be nice if there was a "Current Version" of the Map, and a "Peak Bases" Version. The U.S. being in that country from Late 2001- Mid 2021, a country significantly larger than much of Europe, should be recorded as part of the American Empire Historical period.
E.G. there are maps of the No Longer Extant Roman and English Empires at their Peak Expansion, so a Map of Peak American Empire Expansion would fit in the spirit of this article. Perhaps a different color for those countries the Empire retreated from? I would also count South Vietnam & Laos bases as that was also part of the American Empire Period. so those would likely have 2 different colors period ending 1975 & period ending 2021 (maybe even the places occupied in the 'Banana' Wars)
Note: The American Founders were On Record wanting no part of overseas conflicts, the campaigns from the Spanish-American War/ WW1-To Present (1898-2032?) are essentially the American Empire Period, which usurped the American Republic Period 1776-18982603:7080:CB3F:5032:B004:2D68:8FDB:99AA 19:06, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[回覆]

Map of Countries with US Facilites Incorrect

[編輯]

The map shows the Philippines in red as having US military facilities. The US does not have any facilities in the Philippines since its withdrawal and turnover of bases to the Phillipines in the early 1990s. 175.176.32.175 16:43, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[回覆]

U.S. has military presence in Philippines, https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/philippines-reveals-locations-4-new-strategic-sites-us-military-pact-2023-04-03/ Dasomm (對話) 23:48, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[回覆]
The article says that an agreement "allows U.S. access to Philippine bases for joint training, pre-positioning of equipment etc ... but it is not a permanent presence".
This map is only meant to highlight countries where the US has its own military sites or where its forces are permanently based, not countries that merely let the US make use of some of their facilities. This would mean removing the Philippines, Norway, Estonia, Portugal (which is actually only the Azores), and maybe some others.
Another option would be to highlight those countries a different shade.
Also, I think the rest of the world should be a darker shade of grey (like the blank map), as it's hard to see.

My fault, this article says it clearly, “The Philippines retains sovereignty and control over EDCA sites,” U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Oscar Franquez, spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Manila, told Defense News. “EDCA sites are not U.S. bases, and the U.S. does not maintain permanent forces or footprints in the Philippines.” - https://www.defensenews.com/pentagon/2024/05/12/us-troops-put-new-philippine-military-sites-to-test-in-balikatan-drill/ Philippines should be removed. And about Portugal, Azores is part of Portugal, so Portugal should be there. Dasomm (對話) 09:57, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[回覆]

Idk honestly. If you want edit this file by yourself with all changes you want when you can make request at Commons:Overwriting existing files/Requests. Borysk5 (對話) 10:04, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[回覆]
It would be easy enough to remove the Philippines, Norway and Estonia. The other proposed changes would take more work, but unfortunately I don't have the software for it right now. Asarlaí (對話) 08:21, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[回覆]
