Inaccuracy

[edit]

Turkic language in Western Balkans is wrong. Apart from Mamuša (in Kosovo), Plasnica Municipality and Centar Župa Municipality (in Macedonia) there exists no Turkic communities in the Western Balkans.--Zoupan (talk) 15:27, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see other issues with this map too. I propose we get a group together to put together a more accurate (and much nicer!) map of the modern Turkic languages. I already have some good GIS shape files thrown together for some of the languages that are openly licensed, and it's not hard to make shape files into a beautiful map. What do you think about such a project? I may organise one anyway, and it would be great if you could contribute what you know about Turkish in the Western Balkan. Do you happen to know any literature discussing this directly? —Firespeaker (talk) 04:02, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Zoupan and Firespeaker, nice inputs. I would like to add another point: I don't know according to which criteria the author marked an area with a turkic language or not. But however you define a criteria Southeastern Turkey - I doubt that this is true. I assume that the author looked at the most spoken language of an area and then it is definitely not true. I also wonder why Kazakhstan for example has got so much blank space... But I like the idea of starting a new project and creating an improved map - I would participate ;-) TurkAviator (talk) 17:59, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Major fixes needed to this map

[edit]

This map is very sloppily made just take coastal areas, and country borders for example and I think this image needs some major fixes made to it. I've also noticed some inaccuracies with ethnic groups as this map really seems to overexaggerate turkic groups, in turkey its shown as fully Turkic yet it the south east its majority Kurdish, and the Dolgan people arent located in the Taymyrsky district where they live but rather in Sakha . Im asking for the consensus of other editors before making such a change, however I may go ahead with this if I cant get enough editors thoughts for a while.
