Turkey

[edit]

Thanks for the work and much of this is good but you cannot called the Ottoman areas "Turkey". That was not the word used at the time nor is it in accord with academic practice currently. Please use some term like "Ottoman". Interlinga 01:02, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

United Kingdom!!!!

[edit]

Please, there was no "United Kingdom" at this time. and the map label should be changed. This should be labeled as "England" or "England and Wales". Neither "Great Britain" nor, worse yet, "United Kindgom" are at all appropriate for this period. You might as well label it "European Union"! Despite these two errors, I appreciate the work you're doing here. Interlinga 01:05, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is this is a map of the European Union?

[edit]

Did people, in 1942, just pickup and leave the regions of North America, South America, China, Australia, Africa, Asia, India, the middle-east, the pacific islands, and Greenland? This map is frighteningly euro-centric.

Not a map of the world

[edit]

This is good as the map of colonialism, but not as map of major world powers. At that point places like Egypt or China still mattered at least as much as European powers. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:08, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
