The symbol is wrong

[edit]

The symbol looks like no comet symbol I've ever seen, the troubles being:

  1. the circle is an ellipse, that ellipse slants,
  2. the tail strokes are dashed,
  3. the tail strokes are not in contact with the circle that is an ellipse,
  4. the strokes are very thin, making the symbol hard to see in small dimensions.

Don't use. Instead use . Rursus (talk) 08:17, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To defend the author User:Lucis, the creation of the image was in good faith, fetched from the DejaVu font, whose comet representation is erratic (adding the above ellipse error), a serious try to make the erroneous image from Unicode Miscellaneous Symbols (U+2600++) Raw look better, where the circle is still a circle, the tail strokes are attached to the circle, but the tail strokes are just outlined, not fully drawn... error added upon error... Instead take a look at the link ~ Neronian Astrological Charts ~ for properly drawing comets. Rursus (talk) 09:06, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's just a graphic variant. Cleaned up per a nicer font. And the one above isn't the greatest -- it looks like Sputnik, not a comet. The Unicode form is closer to . Kwamikagami (talk) 06:36, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
