"The image of Hermann and Euclid at the beginning of the Experimentarius has tended to mislead philological discussions regarding the tract—in which neither Euclid nor anyone named Hermann is mentioned. The figure on the right of the image, holding an 'astrolabium' and labelled as 'Hermannus', was first tentatively identified as representing Hermann of Carinthia and in turn connected with Bernardus Silvestris, whose author portrait once prefaced this section. Hellow @Anvilaquarius: : I'm not so sure that the image depicted Hermannus Contractus. If so, it is very rare that Hermann is not wearing a walking stick, as He is depicted in all other illustrations we have of the personage. Ferran Mir (talk) 08:52, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
