New flag?[edit]

I can find no sources for this. Gorgonopsi (talk) 10:30, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

....did i not just post a source in the file history? NorthTension (talk) 15:01, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The Vexilla Mundi and Wikimedia construction sheets are unreliable; they're not sourced from the government but rather simply based off common depictions of the flag.
If the government said the flag is light blue with a properly angled star, then let it be that way. I reverted the file to one that uses the shade of light blue used at the U.N. HQ. BlinxTheKitty (talk) 23:11, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
User:BlinxTheKitty User:NorthTension User:Gorgonopsi: The National Flag Act 2011 defines the colour used in the flag as simply "blue" and states that it represents "the waters and skies of South Sudan, symbolising unity". Not sure that the government has officially defined light blue as the shade to be used, and it looks like there's a lot of variance in the flags used in government photos. They did, also check out the government's Facebook gallery showing the light blue as the one now being used in official government functions like diplomatic meets and on the presidential limousine. NorthTension (talk) 13:40, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dimensions and colours[edit]

I started searching for possible official colours or dimensions and I discovered some things. At mofp.gov.ss there are some images with information of each minister that was there, those images have a south sudanese flag embedded which is the only official digital flag I could find, since the resolution of the flag around the image is low, I approximated the RGB values:

Cyan: #00B6F2

Yellow: #FFE51A

Black: #000

White: #FFF

Red: #E22028

Green: #00914C

Based on the image, I determined some basic dimensions with a 96x48px flag: The star has a diameter of 16px (like in this file) with an angle of 108° and it is placed in the equilateral triangle's centroid. The white stripes are very narrow compared to real life photos, so I looked for flags in official events and I used this one to make the flag more accurate [1]. I assumed that the white stripes had a height of 3px. Undertiago (talk) 22:28, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So, for some reason, I can't overwrite the file, the message was "You attempted to overwrite a file that was not initially uploaded by you. You currently do not have sufficient permissions to do this". I would be very grateful if someone could replace it with this one: [2] Undertiago (talk) 22:40, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's a bullshit change they put in with barely any consent or input from SVG artists. I feel like you have a good shade of blue but the colors of the rest of the flag I think should stay the same as they are now, could you also see about aligning everything like this image? NorthTension (talk) 05:06, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You mean making a construction sheet? [1] Undertiago (talk) 00:47, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I meant moreso matching the proportions to the FOTW construction sheet, hopping on the President's Facebook page there's still consistency issues with the design but the thin white lines seem to be the most consistent (to me at least). NorthTension (talk) 13:20, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the confusion, it would be like this [1] Undertiago (talk) 16:00, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yup I think that looks great! I'll ring someone up on the Wikipedia Discord NorthTension (talk) 16:25, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
