Is this actually the Fortran Logo, or is this the logo of the Fortran lang website specifically? --Mbrickn (talk) 21:17, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As per http://degenerateconic.com/new-blood/ it seems to be for the language, not the site. A.Brudz (talk) 15:43, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to be a copy of the MIT-licensed actual logo: https://github.com/fortran-lang/fortran-lang.org/blob/master/assets/img/fortran-logo.svg A.Brudz (talk) 15:43, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Update of the above discussions[edit]

It seems unlikely that this is the "official logo of Fortran" as that would imply that there is a single entity that "owns" the Fortran language in order to define a logo for it. There is a Fortran Standards Committee but they don't define a logo for the language, and there does not appear to be any other body that would have the authority to do so. As for the copyright issues, this image falls under {{Pd-logo}} -- it is a simple letter in a simple geometric shape, and does not have sufficient originality to be covered by copyrights. MIT may have a trademark on the logo, but that is not the same as a copyright. As an editor at en.wiki, I'm going to make the BOLD move to remove the logo from the Fortran article there. I'll leave it to editors at other wikis to make their own choices. WikiDan61 (talk) 13:07, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not MIT the university, MIT the code license.
