SPD abbreviation

[edit]

It seems to me that the creator of this file chose to "translate" the abbreviations of the parties. However, if that is indeed the case, then SDP does not fit.

  • Christlich Demokratische Union => CDU vs. Christian Democratic Union => CDU  Agree.
  • Christlich-Soziale Union => CSU vs. Christian-Social Union => CSU  Agree.
  • Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands vs. Social Democratic Party of Germany => SPG  Disagree, it's SDP in the picture which does not make sense unless this kind of abbreviation is not a "translation".

I hope this can be fixed.

@DrRandomFactor: Perhaps you can help, since you seem to be the creator of this file. :-) --Vogone (talk) 08:42, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edit - DrRandomFactor here, I can fix it to say "SPG (SDP)" as opposed to it saying "SDP (SPD)". I was even thinking of just using the German names of the parties and getting rid of the English names entirely. What do you guys think?

I would get rid of the English names. Translating proper names is in almost every case a bad idea. Regards, KPFC💬 11:09, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
