Freedom of Panorama tag[edit]

I don't understand this at all. {{FoP-Singapore}}'s purpose is not solely to categorize an image! It also displays a helpful notice box that allows re-users and admins to immediately see how the image is allowed to be on Commons. As an admin, I have no desire to check every category (and supercategory) for a FOP tag; it should be directly on the image description page. Powers (talk) 14:14, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging every image seems to me excessive when categories and subcategories are already tagged. It would mean that every single photograph of a building, model of a building, and three-dimensional artwork permanently displayed in public would require a tag. We are talking about thousands of files here. If one is unsure about whether freedom of panorama applies, one can refer to "Commons:Freedom of panorama#Singapore". — SMUconlaw (talk) 18:09, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, if one knows to look there. Once one has done that, the usual procedure is to tag the image to save others the trouble. Powers (talk) 14:22, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have asked for additional input at Commons talk:Freedom of panorama#FoP tag location. Powers (talk) 14:28, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. — SMUconlaw (talk) 07:40, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
