Quoting the LOC on this image ... "Copyrights to photographs in the collection that were not produced as "work for hire" by U.S. News & World Report staff photographers may be retained by the photographer or his/her heirs. Neither the donor nor the Library has been able to satisfactorily establish which works are in this category. Therefore, the Library recommends that patrons obtain permission from the creator agency, the photographer or the photographer's heirs before publishing or otherwise distributing images taken by non-staff photographers, except as allowed under "fair use." "

It doesn't sounds like we can say with confidence that this image is free. --Gmaxwell 00:40, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[回复]

I believe you obtained the quote from this page. Please read the lines before that; what you quoted doesn't apply to this image, or any image made by "Warren K. Leffler, Thomas J. O'Halloran, Marion S. Trikosko, John Bledsoe, and Chick Harrity". Rather, your quote applies to images that were not made by in-house USNWR photographers. At least that is how I interpret the situation. --Tom (talk - email) 15:11, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[回复]
Tom is right. I researched the issue previously and created {{PD-U.S. News & World Report}} for such images (which are a fairly large and important collection).--Pharos 17:37, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[回复]
