Any particular reason for the recent change to the image? Specifically:
- Slightly taller
- Much wider
- Black background
It looks very odd on en:Colonialism. That's partly do do with the way it is being squashed (not sure why it is doing that) but I thought it looked fine before.

- The interest of image masking is self-evident to me. The square format is a matter of composition.
- Changing the aspect ratio of the image might induce apparent deformations on a Wikimedia page if you have viewed it before, as the new aspect ratio is taken into account but the vignette is not necessarly updated and might be drawn from your cache, entailing that the old image is displayed with the new aspect ratio. New readers should not be inconvenienced; regular users of the page can try reloading, possibly while forcing the flush of the cache of their navigator, which should sort things out. -- Rama (talk) 11:31, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
