Hi User:Olli. Before I uploaded the above image, I too was initially planning on overwriting this file, since the 'flatter' file is just basically an altered/corrected/cropped version of this file. But apparently, from NASA's perspective, they are not, and they have different identifications, as these two files apparently seem to have been sent from the rover separately. So since this is not a mere 'fix' by a Wikimedia user, but instead a completely 'alternate version' from the source (NASA/rover), I don't this it's a good idea overwrite it, as it basically violates COM:OVERWRITE.
