Accuracy of the rendering

[edit]

(moved from en:Wikipedia:Graphics_Lab/Illustration_workshop#Proposed_flag_of_South_Dakota_(2012))

@Cmglee: Actually, while we're still here, is there any chance you could enlarge the central symbol, so that it closer matches the original version displayed here? So sorry about this. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 20:57, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you edit the SVG file in a text editor and uncomment the image tag, you can see that the original overlaid on my version matches it. The original isn't exactly symmetrical, so the blue sectors are off to one side. cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 00:56, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. The Wikia version and the one in [1] are likely reproductions by other users. Perhaps we should seek out Termes's original rendering and copy that. cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 01:01, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Cmglee: Fair enough then. Perhaps, as an alternative, the current SVG file should be left the way it is, while a separate SVG file is created for the version with the larger emblem? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 01:21, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to crop it. The simplest way is to adjust the values of viewBox at the top of the file. cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 01:49, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Cmglee: Got it, thanks for your help! Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 02:07, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The current rendering is based on [2] which Snow Lion Fenian linked on en:Wikipedia:Graphics_Lab/Illustration_workshop#Proposed_flag_of_South_Dakota_(2012).
[3] is signed by Termes but the amount of cropping is unknown. [4] gives Termes's intended size of the central elements: orthorectifying and assuming the round shapes are intended to be circles should define their shapes and sizes. I'll leave this exercise to another editor... cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 04:14, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. [5] from Termes's official website differs in colour from [6] so I'm unsure which should be considered canon. cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 04:27, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
