This can't be added to the English wikipedia, because there is already a file with this name on it. Adelbrecht (talk) 16:41, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Created new name by putting year. This is actually good because I am currently in the process of creating the Royal Badge of Wales (1953) version with the Red dragon, so this will clarify things and make it less complicated in future. Sodacan (talk) 16:56, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, because this badge appeared in the December 2008 College of Arms Bulletin as the badge of the Welsh Assembly, and in this BBC news story as the royal badge of Wales, I emailed the College of Arms about it and its blazon and received the following reply:

The Departmental Crown Badge for the Welsh Assembly incorporates the Arms of the last Princes of Wales. This is not to be confused with the Royal Badge for Wales and does not therefore replace the same. Departmental Badges are not normally blazoned. The Departmental Crown Badge for the Supreme Court might present some blazoning difficulty!
Yours sincerely,
Peter Gwynn-Jones
Garter King of Arms
