SNP yellow is very bright[edit]

Hey @SmartyPants22, is there any way we can improve the diagram to make the SNP dots less harsh on the eyes? Nick.mon's original 2019 diagram had grey outlines encircling the SNP dots, do we want something similar?

There is absolutely no obligation for all Parliament diagrams to come from parliamentdiagram.toolforge.org[edit]

There is a rich history of different countries having unique and different seat diagrams. A default-style parliamentdiagram.toolforge.org should be used only if there is no better option. In particular, parliamentdiagram.toolforge.org was never meant to be an obligation or a style to be used everywhere.

See for example,

In the case of the Scottish Parliament, there is a better choice directly from the Scottish Parliament itself. I like parliamentdiagram.toolforge.org, but I just think that is should be the fall-back option only.

The version from the Scottish Parliament is better in that it has the correct seating positions, but otherwise it is inferior. It is a trace of a raster image which is just bad SVG code, the colours don't match the official colours of the parties that are also used on articles (at least on the English Wikipedia), and the symbols, while admittedly helpful for the colourblind, are really not needed. I have created a better image, without using the tool you mentioned above. Lexicon (talk) 21:43, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, I would be happy to update this file to more accurately represent the actual seating in Holyrood, including aisle spacing and whatnot. However, to do this I need reliable information regarding the seating arrangements. I note that in photos of the chamber there are actually 132 seats, only 128 of which should be filled, with one presumably retained for the speaker in her capacity as a member of parliament, even if she doesn't sit there. That leaves three empty seats (or are there two more empty seats for the deputies?), the location of which I do not know. Lexicon (talk) 22:58, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your edit! I originally intended to use a screenshot from the "Your Scottish Parliament" (2021) PDF temporarily while I fiddled around in photoshop, so thank you very much for your version, which looks very nice! Are you going to upload your version under a new filename as well, e.g. "Scottish-parliament-2021.svg"? Egroeg5 (talk) 21:24, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
