PD due to age?

[edit]

Reading en:Great Seal of Ohio is says the seal was designed 1847, modified in 1967 and 1996. Looking at the File:Emblems_of_USA_1876_(original).jpg the 18th century version bears little resemblance other then it follows the en:blazon. Can we really say this image is PD due to age?--Svgalbertian (talk) 04:13, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, this is an artist's rendition from circa 1996. The current official design is more-or-less the same version used since 1967. Of course, it never had a copyright notice on it, so perhaps that's a grounds for public domain status. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 19:11, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No copyright notice only applied up until 1977.--Svgalbertian (talk) 22:59, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
