Sinjar-Al-Yarubiyah-Rabiah

[编辑]

Sinjar-Al-Yarubiyah-Rabiah area is not controlled by ISIL, it is controlled by Peşmerge and YPG forces.

The yellow area is not area claimed by ISIL, it's the area where ISIL has an operational presence. They obviously want a big caliphate, not just this area.--Kohelet (留言) 03:50, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[回复]

Sources

[编辑]

It would be useful to know what are the sources for the changes in the map of the ISIS controlled area.Mondolkiri1 (talk) 01:41, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[回复]

@Joan301009, Spesh531: - I agree. If you could add source for your future edits. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:46, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[回复]
It's simply a screenshot of this picture.—SPESH531Other 03:13, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[回复]
And your sources for that map are...??? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:21, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[回复]
These two Wikipedia templates: w:Template:Iraqi insurgency detailed map and w:Template:Syrian Civil War detailed mapSPESH531Other 03:48, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[回复]
All of the maps I have created have been originated from the information of those two templates.—SPESH531Other 03:49, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[回复]

Area claimed by ISIS

[编辑]

what does it meen? thanks, Ely1 (留言) 14:23, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[回复]

I also wondered about this, since ISIS obviously want, eventually, to capture the whole Islamic world. According to the web page which is used as a reference, it is about the provinces (wilayaht) which ISIS claimed to have set up. Perhaps in the areas where they have control, these provinces do function as such, and in the areas where they have no real control, these divisions are more like army units. See also the remark by Kohelet above about 'operational presence'. Bever2 (留言) 16:54, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[回复]
I think we should omit these so-called "areas claimed by ISIS". Their rebranding as "Islamic State" is an indication that they see no geographical limit to their claims. And so is their rhetoric. Gazilion (留言) 10:43, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[回复]

Uninhabited area

[编辑]

Much of the area is uninhabited desert, shouldn't this have a different colour? Probably no-one has effective control over there. In many recent maps by news media, the distinction is made. Bever2 (留言) 16:58, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[回复]

I agree with you.--Gomada (留言) 22:39, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[回复]

Kobani (Kobane)

[编辑]

When did ISIS capture Kobani? This map is not correct!--Gomada (留言) 22:42, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[回复]

They control all the surrounding areas of Kobani; the only part they don't control are parts the city itself. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 17:10, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[回复]

Original research

[编辑]

This map is original research. It is based on maps secifying towns controlled by ISIS, but it goes further and annexes everything in between. There are plenty of maps from reliable sources that include the roads between ISIS strongholds as ISIS-controlled, but I haven't seen any reliable source that goes as far as including all the vast uninhabited territory between these roads. Can the creator of the map supply a source that indicates that ISIS controls these areas, or otherwise change the map to reflect what reliable sources actually say?--160.39.220.198 18:01, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[回复]

Sinai

Is there any info on what territory is controlled in Sinai? Should be added if possible. --Franz Brod (留言) 22:15, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[回复]
