ID#: 4338 Description: This micrograph reveals a conidia-laden conidiophore of the fungus Bipolaris hawaiiensis.

Bipolaris spp. are known to be one of the causative agents of the fungal illness phaeohyphomycosis, which can be superficially confined to the skin, or systemically disseminated and involve the brain, lungs and bones.
