Object history
Deutsch: Bereits 1466 besaß die Gemeinde Essingen ein eigenes Gerichtssiegel (nach Hupp, erster Nachweis im Landesarchiv Speyer, D 23 Nr. 172 von 1507), in dem das Gemarkungszeichen abgebildet ist. Auch ein Siegelschnitt von 1622 behielt dieses Gemerk unverändert bei (vgl. LA Speyer, A 14 Nr. 442 a, b). Das Gemarkungszeichen wurde 1839 als Minuskelbuchstabe h verkannt und so genehmigt (vgl. LA Speyer, Y 10 Nr. 12039 und H 3 Nr. 7651/l fol. 198). Erst 1925 wurde durch Wappenänderung wieder das alte Gemerk verliehen.
