English: Greek, Attic; Grave stele of a youth and a little girl with finial in the form of a sphinx; Stone Sculpture. Français : Stèle funéraire en marbre d'un jeune homme et de sa sœur, avec chapiteau et sphinge de couronnement. Attique, v. 530 AEC. Marbre, 4,23 m. Base inscrite, fût sculpté et peint, chapiteau seulement peint, sphinge sculptée et peinte. Traduction partielle de la notice du musée: "Le jeune homme sur la stèle funéraire est représenté comme un athlète, avec un aryballe (flacon d'huile) suspendu à son poignet. L'athlétisme était une partie importante de l'éducation de chaque garçon et l'huile était utilisée comme nettoyant après l'exercice. Il tient une grenade - un fruit associé à la fois à la fécondité et à la mort dans les mythes grecs - indiquant peut-être qu'il avait atteint la puberté avant sa mort. La petite fille, vraisemblablement une sœur cadette, tient une fleur." Ce monument doit avoir été érigé par l'une des familles de l'élite les plus riches d'Athènes.
