Summary

[edit]
Description

Pluteus hispidulus (Fr.) Gillet

Image location: Parque de Monsanto, Lisboa, Portugal

If I interpret correctly the description in the reference, this can well be the rare species Pluteus hispidulus. It was a single specimen growing together with Gymnopilus junonius (see observation 179898) on the remains of a Quercus suber tree, in a place of seepage rainwater. The cap has approximately 1.5 cm in diameter and the stipe about 5 cm long, thin but firm. The cuticle is somewhat distinct for a Pluteus, mingled with tufts brownish gray on lighter background, darker in the center and grayish white at the margin.

Used references: C Bas, TW Kuyper, ME Noordeloos and EC Vellinga (Eds.), Flora Agaricina Neerlandica vol. 2, 1990.
