Description
Deutsch: Die "Schöne Eiche" bei Endlichhofen wird in der Literatur mehrmals als schönste Eiche Deutschlands bezeichnet. Im Jahre 2014 lag der Brusthöhenumfang bei 7,55 m, bei einer Höhe von 18 m. Die Eiche ist nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg zur Zeit der Rheinlandbesetzung bei französischen Truppenübungen in Brand geraten. Gegen Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges beschoss deutsche Artellerie von Westen heranrückende Amerikaner, wobei die Eiche getroffen wurde und zwei Starkäste absprengte. Gegen Ende der 1970er Jahre entstand im hohlen und mit Mulm gefüllten Stamm ein Brand, den die Feuerwehr nur mit chemischen Mitteln löschen konnte. Seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre leidet die Eiche unter dem Gemeinen Schwefelporling.
