Introduced, warm-season, annual, tufted grass to 80 cm tall. Stem bases are flattened and pinkish and leaves are hairy at their base. A native to southern North America, it is a weed of pastures and along roadsides. Abundance varies widely from year to year. More common in years with good late spring/summer rainfall and poor ground cover. In some years it can dominate alluvial flats. |
